Gingerbread contest

It was the girls against the boys. . . the kids had a contest this year for the best gingerbread house. They were supposed to have a theme. The boys (Jaggyr, Kazen, and Daxon) did a lighthouse, and Kesh and Ella did the Empire State Building? (Kesh still wasn't sure even when she was finished). They were pretty creative, but they really only did it so that they could eat the candy when the contest was over!

I am not letting Just take pictures anymore. . . for now please turn your head sideways to get the full effect.

Christmas Pics

Christmas is such a fun time of year, but it is gone so quickly. The kids all had fun and Kesh and I braved the weather on Friday to go spend her gift cards (thank heaven for 4-wheel drive!) They were all grateful for their gifts, but Ella truly enjoyed everything that she got and did not stop playing until it was time for bed. Jaggyr can't wait until the snow melts off the sidewalks so he can try out his new Spiderman bike. Dax is going to learn how to play his keyboard, Kazen got a Zune, Kesh got some practical ankle braces so that she doesn't have to sit out another basketball game again.

Justin was the picture taker this year, so I am leaving his goofy style on the pictures.

Boy's 1st Basketball Games

Daxon and Kazen had their first Jr. Jazz games of the season last Saturday, and I have to admit the first game is always a little chaotic. They only had 1 practice together as a team before their first game, so that is to be expected, I guess.

Kazen scored the first basket and I missed it! I was trying to zoom in with the camera and could not find the button, but the camera went dead and I missed the shot! His final score was 6-6, yes, that is right, I said six to six! It was a real high-scoring game, and thankfully they left it at a tie.

Daxon's team lost 22-16. They did pretty good, just need to work out the kinks and pass the ball around. After practice last night, he told me they are going to be ready for the game on Saturday because now they have more than 1 play to run, they have 2.

No pictures for this one because, as I said, I didn't check the batteries and they were dead!

Ella Temple

I finally let Kesh curl Ella's hair the other day and it was so cute! I had to post it.

Jaggyr's 5th Birthday

My little man is growing up. Today he turns 5 years old. When he was little and had reflux so horribly bad I had to carry dish towels with me, I never thought that I would see the day that he was old enough to go to school. What a smart little guy he is. We work on preschool-esque papers at home because I cannot bear to spend $80 a month to send him to my neighbor's preschool, but he catches on so quickly and he really likes doing it. Here is my list of 5 reasons why I love Jaggyr so much:

1. He is so loving and gives the best hugs in the mornings.

2. He is so smart and knows things that amaze me. He can put anyone to shame on the Wii. He is so eager to learn new things.

3. He takes care of Boozer faithfully and doesn't complain.

4. He is so kind to Ella when I know that she annoys him.

5. He brings so much happiness to our home and he is a funny little guy.

Happy birthday Jaggyr! We love you so much!

"Creepy" Cough

The other night Jaggyr had the croup, then Ella got it 2 days later. I told her she had the croup. Well last night she came into my office and told me that she had the "creepy" cough again. She is right in an off-handed sort of way. . . it is really creepy how their coughs sound when they have the croup! We are all better in our house today, and hopefully it will stay that way for the rest of the season.

Potty Training 101

You would think after potty training 4 other kids that I would be a pro at it. . . Ella is teaching me otherwise! For 6 months now we have been pushing and bribing and pleading, but to no avail. Finally, Justin told her that Santa would only come if she was potty trained (I know it's mean, but we were getting desperate) and the other day she said "I think I have to go potty." Kazen took her in and she went and has been going ever since (3 days now). Jaggyr tells me that he takes her in to go potty and Kazen just comes along. Justin told Jaggyr months ago that it was his responsibility to be a big brother and help train his little sister. Way to go Jaggyr! No more diapers, yea! This has been a long time coming!

Basketball

Kesh made the 9th grade basketball team at her school! She is quite the aggressive player, and she certainly did not get that from me! She was going to open court with the high school team for a little over a month to see if she wanted to try out for the sophomore team, but in the end she decided she would like to play for the middle school team where it would be a lot more fun. She has 2 great coaches who you can tell really care about the girls. Kesh's nickname is the South Tower, you'll have to ask her about that one. All of her games will be on Saturdays at Alta High School. I will have to get her schedule and let you know times.

Daxon and Kazen will be playing Jr. Jazz this year again. Dax will be on the same team he has been on for over 4 years now, and they do pretty well. Kazen's team is unknown, but hopefully he will get a good coach.

Football

Football season just wrapped up and what a fun year it was! Daxon was in the Bantam league this year (13 year olds) and Kazen was in his last year as a Gremie (8,9 year olds).

Daxon played on special teams this year, got a lot of great hits, and even an onside kick recovery. He had different coaches the previous 3 years, but this year at tryouts they were a little shocked that he was so much smaller than they thought, so he got picked up by another team. He got a really amazing picture of himself blown up quite big by one of the coaches.

We had to basically force Kazen to play this year as he did not really get a lot of playing time last year. I know that he is really glad we made him play because this year he got to be quarterback and did real well. Made a few touchdowns and even got to pass a few times as well. Great coaching staff, very positive.

Both boys made the play-offs, but they each lost the first game.

They sure were fun to watch and I hope they realize how much joy they give us watching them grow up.

ADD

Many of you already know that I have diagnosed myself with ADD, hence, no postings since May of 2008! Okay, now that I know that I can make our blog really cute, I think I will take another shot at it!

Ode to Utah Jazz

It's game 6 back in Utah (the loudest arena in the NBA). Us Utah fans love our Utah Jazz! Game time. Okur is jumping against Gasol who is nearly a foot taller than him (so it seems). My stomach is doing flips. You'd think that I was the one playing in one of the biggest arenas in the NBA. My husband tells me it is because I am a fan. . . yea, that works for me. Try as they might, for most of the game we were around 13 points behind the Lakers. We made a rally at the end, but too little too late. We only lost by 3 points to end another exciting season. Props to Deron Williams, Mehmet Okur, your guys are awesome. Mehmo you are always there for the rebounds, and when your 3's are on, there is no stopping us. Boozer, where were you? Does the pressure get to you, cause I just felt like your heart wasn't all the way in it? Kyle Korver, we love you! You're a great role model for young kids, girls want to marry you, and you have a heart and give of your time and your money. I am proud that my sons and daughter look up to you. As to the rest of the bench, you guys rock! You outscore the opponent's bench almost every game. Sloan, you gotta pump those guys up before the game! We seem to come out a little flat in the beginning, but usually get it together before too long. Thank you to the guys of the Utah Jazz for providing our family with something we can watch together on TV. . . no foul language (for the most part), no sex or nudity, and just an all around great time. See you again next season!

Root canal. . . naw I would rather have a baby!

Justin had tooth pain last week so he went to the dentist who, in turn, sent him to an endodontist, who tells him that a tooth that he had a root canal about 4 or 5 years ago now has infection up in the roots. Wait a minute, I thought that having a root canal mean that there were no roots left and would not (should not) give you any more trouble? Do you ever feel like the dentists are taking you to the cleaners? The endo put him on an antibiotic and told him to come back in about 3 weeks. Well by last Sunday he was in major pain so I called the dentist who changed his antibiotic to something "stronger." Didn't touch the pain! Justin finally went back to the endo yesterday and he did a root canal on the tooth above the problem tooth! Are you confused yet? I sure am! Hence after staying home all week because he was in so much pain he could not work, Justin has gone to work today. I think he was really tired of watching me do "nothing all day." Whatever! I really do love him, don't tell me I do nothing all day, though, with 5 kids, 1 husband (live in Utah, but not polygamist), 1 diva dog, 1 cat and her 2 kittens to take care of, I have plenty to do!

I really would rather have a baby than have tooth pain! There is nothing like it in the world!

Brodie's a growin!

My nephew Brodie (who is not even supposed to be born yet) weighed 5 lb. 8 oz yesterday. He gained 12 oz. in 2 weeks. He is such a cute little guy. Me and the kids got to go down and see him last Friday on our way to Circleville. The kids all got to see him for the first time.

Funny People

I have a really funny neighbor! I just read the funniest blog that she did about cupcakes. It is hilarious! Go to chanelinreallife.blogspot.com to read it.

Fishing

Well, we are off on another adventure. . . to Circleville to go fishing. Jaggyr wants to catch a 5-pounder, and Ella is just happy to be going somewhere. Kesh is our official fish-gutter (no one else can really stomach it, so she steps up and gets it done!) Daxon and Kazen are excited to go ride the dune buggy that Uncle Clark gave them. Boozer loves going down to the property and the freedom he has to run wherever. Just thinks that he needs a friend, I, on the other hand, do not want one more live thing to take care of in my life right now!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mutha's!

Dance weekend

Kesh had a dance competition in St. George on 04/12/08, so me, Kesh, Dax, and Kazen loaded up the Yukon and headed down South for a quick trip. Let me just start this off by saying that Keshley, yet again, had me at the wrong school. She told me all along that the competition was at Dixie High School. We got there at about 6:30 a.m. and lo and behold, the school was dark and not one car was in the parking lot. I figured we would try Dixie College since it was a bigger arena, and luckily it was there. This is the 2nd time this has happened. You'd think I would learn. Her team took High Point (which is supposedly the best you can get) and 1st in everything but hip-hop, which they took 2nd in. She did awesome! Dax and Kazen got to hang out with their cousins, Tyler, Zach, Austin, Trevin, and someone made Uncle Brandon's toilet overflow and flood their kitchen (not sure who did it, it just happened). They now have to have all the sheetrock replaced on their kitchen ceiling. So sorry Brandon and Tacy! I got to hold sweet baby Brodie, who as of today, is up to 3 lb. 11 oz. Way to go Brodie, keep on keepin on! Kaci is doing really good, just tired, I think. Ella and Jaggyr were so lucky, they got to stay at Aunt Shannie's house over the weekend and play with Will and Macy. Justin got some of the walls up on our cabin, and hopes to finish the walls at least in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Grammy and Gary for coming to Keshley's dance competition!

Brodie Marc Hill

ChiChi did it! Her body and baby had finally had enough of the "wait and see" that the doctors kept prescribing. Brodie Marc Hill was born on 04/04/08 (4+4=8) at 6:38 a.m., weighing in at 3 lb. 9 oz., 17" long! I will have to get some pictures from Roger so that I can publish them here Congratulations Kaci, Roger, and Trevin! Trevin was staying with us for almost 2 weeks while Mom and Dad were basically in the hospital, but he left today. His Uncle Jason came and picked him up so that he could start bonding with his new baby brother.

@#&* Jeep!!

Well, I went to get Justin's Jeep inspected, and it will not pass! The tires are too wide, we need larger fenders, we need mud flaps, the driver's side blinker stops working when the brake is applied, and another bulb is just completely out! We still think we got a great deal, we just didn't expect to have to put more money into it right away.

Our new blogspot!

Hey everyone! I decided I had better jump into the 21st century (really I don't know what century we are in:) and start blogging. Bear with me if I sometimes forget to post for a few days. Justin finally found his "dream Jeep." We are going to pick it up today (the long search is finally over)! Keshley just got over the chicken pox (she even had the vaccine when she was 6 years old). Daxon and Justin get to go the Jazz Game tonight, and Kazen gets to go with his dad on Wednesday. Jaggyr is the video game king, he would play all day if I let him. Ella loves to wear her sister's makeup, she adores her sister, Keshley. I am just plugging away day and night doing medical transcription. I love the new company I am with. Curves is still for sale, we are hoping something will happen soon so Mom can go home. Trevin is up at our house because his mom (ChiChi) is in the hospital with toxemia. Her blood pressure is doing good at the moment. She will be 32 weeks this Wednesday, which the doctor says is a big milestone. Check back to see what is happening with UsRoundys.
